Only violent processes are capable of producing radiation as energetic as gamma rays. Exploding stars called supernova, solar flares, black holes, pulsars, and distant quasars. These are the subjects of gamma-ray astronomy.

The video shows an artist's concept of a supernova, and image of a solar flare, an artist's concept of a black hole, a pulsar, and a quasar.
