How Does the Universe Generate Gamma-Rays?

Professor
There are several different ways, or physical processes, that happen in the Universe (as well as, of course, on Earth!) which produce gamma-rays. These include:
  1. a high-energy particle can collide with another particle,
  2. a particle can collide and annihilate with its anti-particle,
  3. an element can undergo radioactive decay, or
  4. a charged particle can be accelerated.

Imagine the Universe is a service of the High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC), Dr. Francis Marshall (Acting Director), within the Astrophysics Science Division (ASD) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
