Lifetime: April 1993 - April 2005

Country (primary): United States

Primary Science

The Array of Low Energy X-ray Imaging Sensors, or Alexis, satellite was a small satellite. Alexis carried an ultrasoft X-ray telescope array for astronomy studies. It also carried instrumentation to test the feasibility of quickly building low-cost sensors for arms treaty verification.

Science Highlights

  • Mapped the diffuse X-ray backgroun in three emission line bands
  • Performed a narrow-band survey of X-ray point sources
