How many cataclysmic variables are there in the Galaxy?

How many of each kind?

How much X-rays and gamma rays do they produce in total?

My current guess would be about 5 million CVs producing 2e37 ergs/s of X-rays, but this could go up or down by a factor of ten or more as we learn more...
