Primary Science

The primary science goals of the BeppoSAX X-ray astronomy satellite was to perform spectroscopic and time variability studies of cosmic X-ray sources in the energy range of 1 to 200 keV.

Science Highlights

  • Obtained the first arc-minute positions of gamma-ray bursts
  • Performed the first follow-up observations and monitoring of gamma-ray bursts
  • Observed broad band spectra of various classes of X-ray sources
