Lifetime: January 1993
Country (primary): United States
Primary Science
The Diffuse X-ray Spectrometer, or DXS for short, was designed to obtain spectra from the diffuse soft X-ray background. It was flown as an attached payload on the Space Shuttle Endeavor (STS-54).
Science Highlights
- Obtained the first-ever high-resolution spectra of the diffuse soft X-ray background in the energy range of 0.15 to 0.23 keV.
