Got on a 18 wheeler

by XRS

This morning I got on the 18-wheeler for the trip to the airport. The box was sealed (after they shoveled more dry ice into it – was that really necessary!), and then hoisted me onto the truck. We pulled out on schedule. Everyone waved – I'll miss them so much. I know I'll see some of them again in Japan. And my buddy Scott is here taking the trip with me. So we'll have a good time. But how come I can't ride up front? Scott, pass me the chips!

So we're on the road, and I notice we're going up I-95. Scott tells me we're flying out of New York City. Sheeesh – they must not have been able to get a good air fare out of Baltimore.

It's a bit of a long trip, but I try to practice my Japanese. “Otearai wa doko desuka?”

The XRS boxed and wrapped in plastic for shipping
Wrapped in my plastic and netting. Aack!

We drive right to JFK airport. I was bummed – I thought I'd have a chance to see the sights! I went into this big warehouse and spent all afternoon getting ready for the trip. I got weighed with all my packing gear (1,340 kg!). Then they put me on a crate, and wrapped plastic and netting around me. I look ridiculous! Then they put me in “cold storage.” Ha Ha – they don't know what cold is!

Scott comes by to say good night. He says they'll be waking me up really early!
